Based in BC.

Seeking beauty, subtlety, and expression in film.

As of 2018, we are working collaboratively on Short Films for festivals and enjoyment, and when the right artists come along, on Music Videos as well.

We produce, direct, shoot, and edit our films in house.

K. Bray Jorstad

Bray has been making films for 6 years under the moniker Latro.

He practices expressionist painting, photography and filmmaking.

As an artist, his practice is based on focusing beauty  within the mundane, an ongoing observation of that which we miss in the every day.

Bray studied film at VFS, and has focused on creative lighting for many years, gaffing Indie features and working within the Vancouver film industry.

Within Mandarin & Fig, Bray is the cinematographer and for every film, the producer, writer, and director of some, and co-writes and directs with Ali for many projects.

He aims to create beauty in film through reality in life.

Ali Calladine

Ali joined Bray as the co-writer and producer of our first Festival piece, We Want Danger, in 2017. From there, Mandarin & Fig has sprouted.

As a writer, economist, organizer, and artist, she helps broaden the perspective of Mandarin & Fig, and drive forward our collective visions.

Ali seems films as an ultimate opportunity to create connection, feeling, and bring the abstract to light in an accessible way. She has co-directed and written multiple projects, founded the Victoria Short Film Festival, and begun writing her own original short films.
